In an interview be personable, talk in a friendly and conversational manner rather than simply quoting rehearsed answers. Try to build rapport with the interviewer, but do not be fake.

Keep your resume error free. It is deceptively easy to make mistakes on your resume and exceptionally difficult to repair the damage once an employer gets it. As well as checking your spelling and grammar, make sure your employment dates match up and you have provided your current contact information.

Offer to lend a hand (yes, even if it’s something you would not normally do). Remember, the people you work with, especially your direct report see and hear things regularly.
